A. Lietz San Francisco Wet Compass
I am not sure when this dates from exactly,
but the style and look of the box are a strong indication that it dates from early
in the 20th century if not earlier. The label inside the top of the box is
worn and very early also. The face has been restored / repainted. It
is operational.

The top one in
this pic is the bottom right in the above pic The first one is a very nice thick link 50' chain with loop handles. It
is unmarked. My understanding is that these 50' chains are associated with
railroads and the 50' right away they have. It is in very nice condition.

& E Surveyor's Base Line Tape
These are
listed in my catalog as coming in 100 & 150' lengths. I did not unroll this
to check which it is. The end is marked with the name and has a loop you would
attach a handle too. The mahogany ring is marked Keuffel & Esser. I
do not see any increment in the first 10 feet or so, and so do not know exactly
how they were meant to be used.
