# 2 Smooth Plane
This is a pretty nice looking example. The original black japanning
is 85% or better, the rosewood rear handle is nice, and the casting is damage and pit
free. The cutter is a Sweetheart era and that looks proper for this
vintage plane. The front knob is OK, and has a nice form, but may be a
replacement. .

/ Defiance / Eclipse # 2 Smooth Plane
This is a later #2 with the cutter marked Eclipse. The collector had it in
the Stanley collection and that is what the red tag on the side represents.
I initially thought he was dreaming, but in looking through John Walters ID & price
guide I see he was on to something. This is actually a quite rare and desirable
# 2 size plane according to that reference.
It looks as though the front knob has been
replaced, and the rear tote has been reglued. It is otherwise pretty nice.

Stanley #3 Corrugated Smooth Planes
These Stanley #3 size corrugated smooth planes are both nice. On the left is an early low knob
model with a full length cutter. It does not have the external frog adjuster.
It is in super condition.
The right hand one is nice and later. It has a nice handle
and is pre-war. It does have the external frog
adjuster. Its cutter is shorter, but has plenty of life, and I have
NOS teens era cutters for 10.00 additional you can order with it.

Stanley Aluminum Bench Planes
Stanley made and sold a few different
Aluminum planes and other tools back in the 20's and
30's. They made an aluminum version of the #18 block plane, the #78
and the #45, some levels, a brace, as well as these three different size bench planes,
the A4, the A5, & the A6.
Each of these planes is pretty nice with no major detractions.
They are quite soft, and can oftentimes be found with deep scratches in the soles
or sides, but these 3 examples are pretty nice. Each has been fitted with
one of Stanley's aftermarket aluminum handles that were typically offered separately.
I suppose the collector felt they better represented the flavor of the aluminum
planes and he probably swapped them out just for the look.

# 4 Smooth Plane
Here is a good user. It is a WWII vintage w/ hardwood handles and no frog
adjuster screw but does have a brass blade adjuster knob. It is OK with some
minor paint
losses and light rust but not pitted.

Type 4 Pre Lateral #5 Jack Plane
This is a nice early example. The bed is not marked,
and only the cutter / chip breaker and inside the brass nut are marked. The
handle looks like an early and well done replacement. It is Rosewood.
No other problems. Clean it and display it. Nice.

#5 Jack Plane in Original Box
This looks to be a war era WWII plane from the looks
of it the box, and logo on the box and plane characteristics. It has no
external adjuster, and has a hard rubber wheel for the adjuster. The box has
some split corners, but is interesting with no orange covering. It did a nice job of keeping the plane near mint,
and the discoloration you see is a preservative coating that will wash off. No problems, it is like
new and I doubt it was ever used. Very Nice.

here. The left one is a 5C. The owner has scratched his name in
the paint by the handle. there is also some blue paint there. It is
otherwise very nice and will be a great user. The wood alone is worth the
price.
The other one is earlier and nice. It just needs a light clean.

# 604 1/2 Bedrock Jack Plane
This is a nice
604 1/2 Bedrock plane. These are becoming very hard to find anymore. The
Bedrock line of planes were the Cadillac of the Stanley series of bench planes and there is no finer,
better design, or
more popular plane made.
The plane has
seen use, and there is some missing japanning up at the front end. I put a very
nice Stanley decaled Rosewood handle on it. It is a very nice example that will be a great user.

# 605 Bedrock Jack Plane
This is a nice
Bedrock plane. The Cadillac of the Stanley series and there is no finer or
more popular plane made. I believe it is school issue as it has a number stamped
in its side. I cleaned it and installed a different but proper rosewood handle
that is very nice. Ready to go back to work. .

/ Gage # G 6 Fore Plane
When Stanley saw a competitor eating into their
market share the usual reaction was to buy them out
and that is what they did to the Gage Plane co. of Vineland NJ. Gage only
offered a line of wooden planes, but Stanley saw an opportunity to design and produce
a line of Gage like planes in metal to compete with Sargents line of Auto Sets which
looked similar.
This plane is in nice condition, and ready for the bench or shelf.
