Ohio & Union Tool Co. Woodworking Planes
Note: Some of these bench planes by Ohio and Union have been repainted or had their japanning enhanced by this old time collector or the sellers who were supplying him back in the 70's and 80's. It was an acceptable practice then and the goal was not to trick or fool anyone, but simply to make the plane look more presentable.

Ohio Tool Co Block Planes Here is a nice assortment of hard to find
Ohio Tool Co. block planes. All appear to be proper and pretty nice.
The collector put the usual coat of protective finish over the original
Japanning to slow down the onset of rust from storage and sweating with the
season changes. Nice.

X # 8 & # 7 Jointer Planes This style plane was the Union Tool Co. contribution to the
rare and unusual plane / cutter adjusting idea in an attempt to
gather in some of the market Stanley was gathering up. The patent for this
idea was issued in 1903 and consists of a vertical post w/ 2 locking nuts to
adjust the cutters depth of cut. The frog is fixed and cast as part of the sole. These planes were offered in sizes from the #0
(#1) through the #8 size, with the smallest, largest and odd-ball #'s being the hardest to
find.

104 Mini Tailed Block Plane
This example is in nice condition with 60-70% of the
original paint. Note the hump in the middle is more pronounced than
on a Stanley. As the cutter is unmarked, that is the only way to identify
this model.

41 Combination T & G Plane
This example is in nice condition with 80% of the
original nickel or better. The cutters are nice. Union made a
quality product and was trying to compete with Stanley before being bought out
by them. This is a very nice example.
