Western
Electric / Bell System / Stanley Tool Kit
This is a nice little
tool outfit I have never seen before and must have been issued to service one
specific type of electronics or appliance. I am not sure having never
seen it before or knowing how Western Electric and Bell System were connected
other than by phone. Most tools are marked Bell System, the screwdriver
is also marked Stanley, and the kit itself is marked Western Electric.
Note the little mirror and feeler gauge. Perhaps it was to service ????

This came from a David Stanley auction some years back, and I must admit I do
not know its exact use other than to scribe a line or slit something like leather
or????.

Silversmith
Chasing Tools / Ball Irons
These are an example of a tool that serve
more than one trade. Ball irons like this in graduated sets are most often
assigned to silversmiths for use in making relief or smoothing out designs in
soft metal objects. In the fabric industry they are called ball irons
and associated with the making of silk flowers and smoothing petals and the
like. 11 are shown but I have 12. As a set.
