Hand-Crank Cast Iron Colibri Sewing Machine
This beautiful and elegant antique sewing machine was manufactured by Bremner &
Bruckmann in Germany near the turn of the century. This Colibri should not
be confused with the more commonly found Muller 12. This is a very nice antique
sewing machine that is not typically found in the US. Measuring just under
12" across it is slightly larger than most "toy" machines, and was promoted as a
machine that could be used by adults as well as by children. It is highly
decorated with gold, red and green decals and has a lovely footed base. The
body of the machine is hinged to the base and when you release the screw you can
tilt back the machine to reveal a little storage compartment that would have held
the machine's accessories. This example still retains the seam guide and a
piping guide, as well as a little needle case with two sewing machine needles, and
the original (although brittle and torn) instruction sheet. The condition
of the machine is exceptional. The machine itself is near mint. Even
the outside of the tin domed cover, which is oftentimes found worn or dented, is
very nice.

Casige #7 Westfalia Toy Sewing Machine The stitch plate
is marked "Made in Germany" and as can be seen there is a decal / emblem on the
body that says "Westphalia". Other than that there is no ID, but Glenda
Thomas and other collectors have identified it as a Casige #7.
It
has a very
unusual drive mechanism with a
fiberboard or pressed cardboard gear is attached to the inside of the handcrank.
This is only the second one of these I have ever seen, and the gear on the other one
was missing.
The overall condition is great with the original paint and decorations being near perfect.
A very beautiful and hard to find machine that will be a highlight of the
collection.

Muller
19 Cast Iron Child-Size Antique Sewing Machine This cast iron hand crank sewing machine was manufactured
by the F.W. Muller factory of Berlin, Germany during the early years of the 1900's.
They called it their Model 19, and decorated it with lovely and colorful geometric
and floral patterns that would appeal to the hearts of children and adults alike.
One of the interesting features of the Muller 19 was that the base was hinged to
allow the head of the machine to lean back to allow tabletop access to the underside
mechanism. These are typically found in black, and only occasionally found
in blue or red. The condition is nice with some wear to the decoration
and yellowing of the clear top coat.
