Staplers, Clipless Paper Fasteners, Stamps & Check Protectors
Ideal Clipless Paper Fastener Here is one I have never had before. I believe it is English, and made in Japan. It has what appear to be English Patent Numbers on it anyway. The cosmetic condition is super, but the actual operation is a bit spotty compared to the American made counterparts below. It may be just missing a spring as it has to be manually pulled back up. The actual cutting and folding seems to work, but hangs up when pulling it back up. I am not going to play with it. This one is for looking at if you want to use one regularly get one of the ones below. Click for Pic Click for Pic

Excellent ..... $175.00
NOS
Handheld Bump Paper Fastener or Stapleless Stapler w/ Box
The hand held version of the Bump Paper
Fastener is one of the harder versions to find, and doubly so in this
new-old-stock-in-the-box
condition. These interesting little devices which date from the 1920's, although generally not considered very rare, are a wonder to
watch perform their task of fastening sheets of paper together by
cutting, folding, and tucking a small piece of the stock, and then tying it all together
with just a squeeze. All without any
outside or foreign objects, just a simple squeeze. It is a wonder that
the typical stapler was so popular and that these disappeared from the market,
but then they would not have been able to continue to sell you staples at an
incredible mark-up, the type of logic that drives our economy. These devices came in several
other versions including a couple of different desk sizes that
I am aware of. This one is in NOS condition, excellent and works like a charm. I
bought a small supply of these several years ago, and it is quickly dwindling to
the point where I have only a few left, and when they are gone that will be the
end of ones in a condition like these are in. Last Call!!

Note: I only have two of these left, so if you are looking to fill out that office gift list or as the perfect gift for that budding CPA or Tax Preparer in your life, time is running out.
Bump
Table Top Model Paper Fastener or Stapleless Stapler This is the
black anodized version of the
desktop model Bump. Rather than squeezing together the handle as you do
on the above model, this one operates with a push down action much like the
typical contemporary desktop stapler. it features the same precise cut,
fold and tucking action as the model above, and works like a charm! This
desktop version also came in a nickeled finish. There is also a
larger version of this style that was produced and there may be others as well.
This one is guaranteed to be a hit with the office
crowd! Click

German Stapleless Stapler
I have never seen or had this hand held squeeze version before, Probably
from a period when the supply of metal for staples
was in short supply in Germany and they were using it for other endeavors.
It works well. Click

2 Clipless
Paper Fasteners Here are two
slightly different versions of these wonderful devices. The one on the left is a Clipless with an earlier looking applied tag than usually seen.
It has a little turned up piece to act as a stop for the paper. The
previous owner also marked it as a gift from 1911. It must be
one of this companies earlier versions. In general these clipless
fasteners are larger,
heavier and more substantial than their counterparts the Bumps. On the
right is another that is very similar. Both will clean to be a bit nicer,
and could stand a new piece of felt on the bottom. The condition of both
is good.

Left Desk Model Clipless Fastner Good....$50.00
Right Clipless Better ..... $95.00 SOLD!
Automatic
Check Protector Writer This is a
nice example of
early office technology, and was manufactured by the Brady Mfg. Co, or the
Automatic Bank Punch Co, depending on which label you are reading. The overall
condition is good, with some minor rust and nickel loss on those
parts that were nickeled. The original paint and decals are good as are
the stenciled name and instructions on the back, and the numbers on the top.
The feed mechanism works, and the punches do also.
The supply of these unusual devices is quickly drying up and collecting early office technology is hot so get it while you can! These punch type check protectors / writers create their own form of a chad, and I would wager that all devices that work on this principle will gain in popularity and desirability as the reality of just how important a chad turned out to be in that last fiasco finally sinks in.
