Patented Cast Iron Can Opener / Knife Sharpener & Fork and Knife Cleaner  Here is a neat piece made to accomplish three or four different tasks at one sitting.  It most unusual feature is a can opener I have never seen before, and I have bought and sold them for over 30 years now.  The inventors Fred Echhsternach, and Milton Welch must have studied the problems facing them over dinner, and the possible solutions hard and long before coming up with such a simple and elegant solution to a host of everyday dilemmas confronting them before a meal could be served properly.    Here is the simple solution to dulling your knife while opening a can of food, then getting it dirty and not wanting to use your pants leg to clean it.  They thought about it a while and voila an idea was born, a patent taken out, and here we have the only example of it I have ever seen.    It is a great piece.  To see that patent from 1872 click here.
