Machine Fluters
Rocker and Roller Style Fluting Irons
ML-RF
Good+ ..... $45.00 SOLD!
Geneva Hand Rocker Fluter Hailing from Geneva, Illinois this is the classic rocker fluter, and oftentimes the one that gets the collection going! Although advanced collectors consider these to be pretty common there are actually several variations in these irons in the pattern of the dots and in the way the name is written. This example is clean and bright---the fluted portions are a cast alloy material and upon close inspection there is some evidence of deterioration going on in the form of a tight crack in the rocker, but overall it displays well. Star Fluting Machine This fluting iron was manufactured by the American Machine Co. of Philadelphia and has four patent dates spanning from 1875 to 1880. It's the version with the 6" brass rollers. The condition of this antique is incredible with nearly all of its original black japanning, and gold and red pinstriping decorating the base. A really nice example, and you'll never need to upgrade on this one!

Penn Machine Fluter Hailing from Pennsylvania the patented Penn fluting iron must have made easy work of the chore compared to those labor-intensive hand fluters. Let the machine do the work I say! Just insert your starched fabric between the heated rollers and crank away. This example is in nice original condition with good paint remaining. Click for Pic

Greenwood of Cincinnati Patented Machine Fluter This fluting machine would benefit from being cleaned up. It has great form and although not exactly what you would call rare neither is it one that is typically found. Click for Pic

Crown Jewel Machine Fluter This antique machine fluting iron has a fancy scalloped shaped base and a great Victorian look to it. There is lots of black japanning remaining, and great original gold stenciling and scrollwork decoration as well. This example is out of a long-time collection. LCM-MF-2
