The shape of this iron is pretty common, but what is not common is that it is
heated by natural gas. Typically these ox-tongue shaped irons, as they
are referred to, are either heated with a slug or heated by placing the open

there was natural gas available. There are dozens of variations from both
America and Europe, and given it is unmarked and I have not seen this one before
I am thinking it is European.

Gas Iron
This
is an English gas iron. It has a nice cross hatch decorated cast iron
top. Irons like this with a solid tube out the back were meant to run on natural
gas or acetylene as opposed to liquid fuel. This is not a common iron
here in the US, and slightly smaller than most of this type. It is a bit
dirty but is really in nice condition and will clean up nicely. With a
good look and name it is "OK"!

Boudoir Solid Fuel Travel Iron
This was a popular design of travel iron in its day.
They can be found marked several different ways. This one is called the "British Boudoir"
iron. You would put little pellets of fuel in the swing-out cup,
light them up, and iron away all the wrinkles before going out.
