Gas Machine Co. Side Tank Gas Iron
This side tank gas iron hails from Albert
Lee, MN and was made by the American Gas Machine Co. It has a patent number
cast into the top and is marked No. 4. These irons can be found marked
a few different ways. This was a company that gave Coleman a run for their money back in the hey-day of gas fired appliances, but lost out in the stretch. Coleman products are still here and being made (in China), while the American Machine Co. faded into collectible history.

Gas Machine Co. Side Tank Gas Iron
This side tank gas iron hails from Albert
Lee, MN and was made by the American Gas Machine Co. This one is in super
condition and is marked "Pat Appd For", which I assume indicates it was an earlier
version. Where to put the tank seemed to present a problem or challenge
for the different makers, and this firm decided that on the side was a good
solution. I am not sure if they made a left and right version. Something
to watch for!!!

It bears a Feb. 28,
1911 patent date. Another fellow's idea about where to place the fuel
tank---off to the side. And it's one more example of the bias against
southpaw ironers! That's OK, I just won't iron. A nice one!

This is a nice condition black
enamel gas iron with its pump, gas can, and paperwork all in the original
cardboard box.

This is a nice condition
example with just some light rust from storage in the original box. They
are getting hard to find.

This is a pretty hard to find
enameled iron. This company gave Coleman a run for their money in the
northern parts of the country before a number of factors caused them to fade
from the marketplace. A nice iron in nice condition.
