"Companion"
Clamp on Machine Fluting Iron
There were just a few different versions of these clamp-on fluters patented
or produced during the heyday of fluter frenzy in America. They are pretty
hard to find compared to the standard machine fluters around. Fluting
must have been similar to the come and go of other American mainstays of our
culture that perhaps you remember---think curlers, or girdles, or many of the
gadgets sold on TV. This fluter is a great piece, and not one you are
likely to see very often!

Companion
Clamp-0n Fluter
This is a crank style fluter with an integral clamp,
one of only a handful of this style ever manufactured. It is in really
nice condition, still retaining most of its original black paint and gold decoration,
including the name "Companion" in decorative script. A great piece, and
really hard to find!

Perrin
& Gaff / Susan B. Knox Machine Fluter
I am not sure of
the connection between these two names found on the bottom of this fluter, but
I do know that Susan B. Knox was to fluting what Betty Crocker was to baking
a generation or two later. Her famous and well-known and name could only
have helped sales!
This example was done in one of the most beautiful and unusual
decorating schemes I've ever seen. And yes it is all original. Typically
you see maybe nice pinstriping on the bases, and sometimes a pretty decal.
This example has a fabulous bird-in-flight decal, large and bold, bright and
colorful. Highly recommend!

This unusual size English fluter
