Spade Shaped Little Irons
With Wooden Handles
Stevens "Star" Spade Shaped Irons The casting of these Stevens irons is second to none. The wide variety of designs that were produced make them a great choice to collect. The company manufactured a whole series of graduated size spade shaped irons with 5-point stars cast into the top, with each size iron numbered successively. These two examples are a Number 12 and a Number 14, and they are both in outstanding condition. The wooden handle grip on the #14 is probably a more recent, but well done, replacement.

5 Different Wood Handle J.E. Stevens "Star" Child-Size Irons These were made by the toy manufacturer Stevens and date from the 1880's to near the turn of the century. Al Russell loved little irons and to have this many different ones is an indication of how serious a collector he was.

Iron This iron and the one below were made by one of the premier American manufacturers doing business at the turn of the century making cast iron children's toys, irons, banks and stoves. This example is in great condition and exhibits the fine casting the company was known for. It is really a charmer, and it still sports 90% or better of its original finish, including gold highlights on the name. The handle is even stamped with the patent date. Very special!

"Our Pet" J&E Stevens Toy Iron This was the iron for your child when only the best was good enough! These irons had to be more expensive than the competition of the day. The casting is incredibly fine. The workmanship is second to none. In this hard to find small size there are few that hold a candle! There is a tight crack on the underside of the handle grip, but it is otherwise in really nice condition.
Good + ........ $175.00 SOLD!
