Primitive Iron Goffer / Goffering Irons These
are an interesting group of three early clamp-on goffer irons.
This style goffering iron is much earlier than those typically found and for
the most part are smithy-made. Note the bottom one is a folding model which
is very unusual and seldom found. The
variations seen here give just a small sampling of the many combinations
this style goffering iron can be found.

style goffering iron are typically English and can be found in a number of
sizes, base designs, and other subtle differences. Number 380 / back
right has what looks to be an enameled finish and is marked with a maker's
initials on the bottom. In front is an unusual one with a rectangular
base.
