Slicken Stone Irons Slicken Stone Irons  This style of primitive iron originates from Scandinavia.  These are made of glass, but I assume they used stones before they figured out the process of blowing glass and hence the name.  I do not know much about the culture or customs there, but every time I see one of these I wonder if the Vikings were having their outfits pressed before they went off on one of their adventures, or did the fellows who stayed behind wear different outfits during their day to day lives.  Inquiring minds want to know.

Some came with handles, some did not as pictured here. They can be found in different colors as well, and are sometimes confused with sock darners.  There are also contemporary ones being made, but these are the real deal.
