Steelyard

This type of scale is pretty common and
usually associated with weighing cotton or other crops or hides. You
can change the range of weights by hanging it from either top hook. It is
about 14" long and can weigh up to 150 lbs. There is one weight included.

2 Steelyard
Scales
The brass scale marked A. Stevens Boston
with a large Eagle logo is very unusual. I assume this had to do with Maritime use
being brass to keep it from rusting or corroding in that coastal climate or
that it was meant for use aboard a ship. You see hundreds of iron
versions for each one of these seen.
The small iron one below is early as evidenced by the look of the hand forged hooks.
The weight is permanently attached, so this one is proper and could be put back into use.

Winchester
Family Scale
The face of this hard to find Winchester
scale is a bit faded, but still OK. It has been so long since I have seen
one of these that I do not know if the body has been repainted or not. I think
it has, but am not sure. A tough piece to find.
