Crocker-Wheeler
1/4 H.P. Bipolar Electric Motor
This 1/6 H.P. motor appears to be in fine condition noting the minor tears in the
armatures fabric or tape / paper cover. The windings inside appear to be fine.
These smaller versions of these early electric motors are even harder to find than
their larger brothers. The top brass plate on this one has one patent date
from 1891, and it says it is a 3Amp. 10 Volt that runs at 1300 RPM. The serial
# is 12442. The quadruple brushes are carbon in three of the holders and the
fourth seems to have leather in it for some reason. I would imagine that this
would run all day, and have no trouble putting any current product to shame.
It is just about 8 3/4" tall and 12" long. There are not many of these
left and they make for a graphic display and represent an important part in the
history of the development of electrical technology in this countries history.
Rare and recommended!

Roth 1/2 H.P. Bipolar Electric Motor
This 1/2 H.P. motor appears to be in good condition and is an early and important
example of motor technology when it was still in its infancy. It weighs in
at close to 100 lbs and stands just under 13" tall. The windings appear to
be OK, but I have not tested or attempted to run it. Tough to find this open
frame motors were once pushed out of the way and considered nothing more than scrap
are today an important reminder of just were we were and how far we have come.

C & C Curtis & Crocker Bipolar Electric Motor The condition on this motor is second to none, and it has not been restored or fiddled with in any way. The patent dates for this motor are from the 1880's putting it as one of the earliest. This company is well known and were highly respected when they were in bussiness for just a few years in the 1880's. In addition to fans they also made motors for commerial purposes and I assume that this is what this was for to run a sewing machine or other similar device. Seldom seen, and never in this condition. A choice piece of electrical motor history ready for the collection. Excellent....... $ 1450.00 SOLD
Early
Open Frame Bipolar Electric Motor
This is
another interesting example of a small battery powered open frame bipolar electric
motor. It looks like a Carlyle Finch. The tag is missing from
the top but it is certainly a manufactured piece. It stands approx
8" tall and 12" long. It appears it once ran a leather belt. It weighs
approx 15lbs. Nice, and an interesting example of early electrical power.
