Evan's Patent 1877 Fish / Mouse Traps  These early fish traps were originally offered for sale by the Eagle Claw Co. the famous fish hook Co. and are commonly referred to by that name. They are becoming very difficult to find, but presented here are both of the smaller sizes that are available.  First is the smallest version offered, and it measures in at just 3 inches without the ring.  It is in superb condition and everything operates as it should.  It is marked "Pat Apl 17-77".   It also says "G. W. Evans and Son  Frankfort, PA".   The larger trap measures just about 4 inches without the ring and it is marked the same way.  The trip wire on this trap may have been replaced as it is a different material than the wire on the small one.  There is also some visible solder at the joint where the arms attach, but everything is tight and operates as it should, although it is very sensitive and somewhat harder to set.  Small/ Excellent ...    Larger/ Good...       BOTH SOLD

Patented Cast Iron Buggy Rein Holder  Patented on Apr. 6, 1875 this figural rein holder is one of the most graphic of these devices ever manufactured.  The idea was that this device was attached to the side of the buggy, and when you came to a stop or were otherwise occupied you could slip the reins into the spring loaded slot with the desired tension on them to give the horse the impression you were still paying attention.  It has a great look and is a super piece of cast iron!          Very Good.......$85.00     SOLD

The Magic Carpet Vacuum  This is one of the more interesting and graphic of these antique vacuums from Americas past, and it is in quite nice condition considering its age.  I am no expert on these devices and began buying and selling them years ago just because I was intrigued with the design and idea.  It is amazing how many different variations there are, and this must have been a hot market just before the advent or at least widespread availability of electricity in America.  I have seen two person examples, water powered ones and a slew of other designs all intended to make the life of the housewife easier back near the turn of the century.  Imagine for a moment if the "energy crisis" ever got really bad and you had to resort to this type of device to clean the house.   Wow!          Very Good.......$295.00     SOLD

Unusual Straight Razor Sharpening Machine   This is the only one of these razor sharpeners / hones that I have ever seen.  Sure I have seen lots of other variations of razor sharpeners, but never this particular one and to find it in the box and in this condition is a doubly difficult task.  The main question, and I think the answer explains why there are so few of these around, is why would anyone bother, what with the price of razors back then, but I guess that a dime was something to be considered and a dollar something to be spent wisely, and not just on another razor when the old one could be sharpened, again and again.  How times have changed.    Very Good.......695.00     SOLD

14" Lunkenheimer Steam Whistle   This example is as clean as a whistle and is ready to be mounted or displayed.   By the best known and most respected name in the business this steam whistle will make a wonderful addition to the collection.     Very Good.......$275.00     SOLD

Patented 1863 John Gill Hedgehog Style Cast Iron Cribbage Board  This is a superb piece of cast iron and without a doubt the most highly regarded and most sought after of all cribbage boards, and is in super condition to boot.  I have had a few different versions of this style cribbage board over the years, including one in boxwood in natural finish, another boxwood one painted to look like the black cast iron ones, one with a different label on the bottom, and I also have another cast iron version with a slightly different paint scheme, and have seen another with a different trim feature around the perimeter.   This is the nicest, and none of the others lasted long when I put them out so do not ponder too long.  In case you are not familiar with the design, the interior is filled with felt, and the pins, when they are pulled up, stay up through the friction.  If the guy you have been playing with has trouble keeping track or has a problem placing his pegs properly, this one will solve those problems, and so rattle him that you should be able to beat him, maybe even skunk him as he wonders what he is going to do next.     Excellent ............. $895.00      SOLD

Unusual Sterling Indian Head Matchsafe  The Sterling Indian Chief Matchsafe on the left is a classic and a very hard to find example.  The condition is wonderful, noting one small dent in he bottom coener.

Excellent ............. $595.00      SOLD

Unusual 12" Brass Railroad / Locomotive Bell  This bell came out of a private collection here in California and although unmarked has paperwork with it that says it came from a small logging train that operated near the California Oregon border near the turn of the century.  I have the headlight from the same locomotive listed elsewhere on the site.  Tough to find anymore, bells this size and condition are a favorite with the collecting crowd.

Excellent ............. $1195.00      SOLD

Unusual Dentists Tooth Key    I got this at a tool show a number of years ago and although not something I would typically buy, I was intrigued by the design and unusual root extractor feature the end plug provided.  Having never seen it before, I thought I should own it, now is your chance.

Excellent ............. $495.00      SOLD
