Antique Coffee Mill / Grinder Past Sales Archive

Crystal Wall-Mount Coffee Grinder Although this model is relatively common, this example is in
extremely uncommon condition. It is as close to mint as we have ever seen
and looks to have never been used. It is all original and complete with
the properly marked "Freeport, Ill." catch-cup, an item which is
usually missing. They don't come
much nicer than this! Excellent

The
Riverside #7 Size Double Wheel Coffee Mill
This
is a very rare coffee mill that is in super condition. McMillan barely makes mention of it in his exhaustive book on the
subject of coffee mills, and there is not one pictured. From the construction
details it appears that Enterprise may have
made it, but the wheels,
which measure about 17" in diameter, are a completely different casting.
It is marked "Riverside Manufacturing Co. New York Trojan" in
bold letters. It retains 90% or more of the
deep red finish, and the paint on the wheels is dirty but still near
perfect. This unusual coffee grinder is far rarer than any
Enterprise or Parker coffee mill in the same size or configuration and
it will be a long time before you will ever see another in anything
close to as nice condition. Click

Excellent ..... $SOLD
Hamilton Beach Electric Wall Mount Coffee Mill This c.1915 coffee mill is a very hard to find example that is in pretty good condition. It has the proper and operational cast iron speed control foot operated switch The cup may be a replacement, but as i have never seen another I can not really say. The advertisement that I have seen for this grinder shows it without a lid, and I think we can safely assume that the one that is on it now was the last owners solution to the spiders and other critters of the night taking up residence after the lights were turned out. Rare!! Good++ ....$395.00

The
Telephone Coffee Mill by Arcade This
is an interesting coffee mill made by the famous maker of cast iron
grinders and other cast iron kitchenware, The Arcade Manufacturing Co.
of Freeport Ill.. It is in very nice overall condition and
includes the original catch cup. The tin screw lid is
missing. The wood is nice and has a great patina. These were
made to be mounted to the wall as the handle extends past the base as it
revolves. It is operational and ready for show or use. A
hard to find grinder.

The
Star Mill Coffee Grinder This unusual
Coffee Mill / Grinder, "The Star Mill", is from Philadelphia and if far rarer
than a comparable Enterprise coffee grinder. It is the size of a #7 mill and
is the type that would sit on the end of the counter in a large General Store
back near the turn of the century The condition of the paint on this grinder
is wonderful, and the stars on the wheels are a great touch. The wheels
measure 22" and the internal mechanism is intact and operational. The brass
top hopper has some nickel loss and the lid needs to be soldered back on, but
overall it still looks pretty good. Mills this size that have not been
restored and are this nice with their original paint are becoming ever more
difficult to find. In the right setting this will make a great addition to the
decor or overall effect in that special setting. Excellent.........

Enterprise #1 Coffee Mill
This model is often referred to as Enterprise's first model coffee mill. It is
marked #1 in the casting below the hopper. These early versions never had a
lid for the hopper and there is no provision for one, and so this is correct as
presented. There is no casting damage, and the guts are present and
operational. The drawer front has been repainted, but the casting and overall
condition is nice. The black portions of the paint appear to have been
enhanced in some areas on this mill at some point, but there is lots of
original paint left, and even some of the gold highlights and stripping on the
base. Good +

#3
Enterprise Coffee Mill
This very nice condition coffee mill was made by
the most famous maker of cast iron grinders and other cast iron kitchenware, The
Enterprise Manufacturing Co. of Philadelphia PA.. It is in very nice overall
condition and is all original. The paint is good+ and just slightly faded as is
often found. There are lots od decals remaining with good color. The wooden
drawer with the #3 is proper and original right up to the mouse chew on the bak
wall. Seems they like coffee as well. We used this mill to grind our
coffee for about a year. It works fine and grinds it as fine as one could
want. I think though we are going to go back to the electric one from the
appliance store. . The wood base is nice and has a great patina. One
size bigger than the #2 these mills stand 14" tall and the wheel diameter is
12"

Small Cast Iron Table Top Coffee Mills The unusual grinder on the left is known as the New Model Grinder, and hails from Freeport Ill. It is simple in design, and yet holds a fascination for us because of this simplicity.
